"Will you marry me, Daddy?"

Just had to share a sweet conversation in our home tonight :)

Hannah: You're the best Dad!

Simon: You're the best girl!

Hannah: Ya want to get married?

Simon: I'm already married to mama.

Hannah: Why? I thought you were going to marry me.

Simon: You'll have to find a nice boyfriend to marry when you get older.

Hannah: Did you choosed her when you saw that long dress?

Simon: What?

Hannah: I wanna a long dress, but you didn't choose me.

Simon: I chose mama a long time before you were born.

Then a few minutes later....

Hannah: Even PJ gonna give me a diamond.

Hannah thinks that PJ is her little boyfriend, and she has big plans for them :). Just had to share this sweet little moment because now that it's written down, I can remember it, too!

A couple from the Children's Museum....

The children's museum is by far the kids' favorite place in New Orleans. They'd go there everyday if I'd let them :). Just wanted to share a couple of my favorite ones from today's fun.

I love these big blue doors! One day I'm dressing the kids up and bringing them down for a photo shoot in front of them. Then, I'll bribe them with a visit to the museum if they'll cooperate :)
Love this one of Hannah Jane painting. She loves to use lots and lots of paint...especially her favorite - pink!

PJ & Portraits in the Park

I took my little model PJ out to Audubon Park today to get some shots to go on the fliers for the mini sessions. What a little cutie he is!! BTW...this is Hannah's little boyfriend :)

After the park we headed over to the children's museum...Tons of fun!!!.

For now...just enjoy PJ's smile!

The whole crazy gang!

These are from the Children's Museum...One of our favorite places in New Orleans!
If you haven't booked your sessions yet, don't wait too long. My mini sessions are a popular event!

What's your type?

Through another photographer's site, I found the Enneagram Personality Types. You can go to the website and take a personality test to learn all about you :).

I'm a type 2....the Helper. It was so weird how it really described me. You should try it!

I also wanted to say that I'm so excited by the great response I'm getting about the mini sessions! Don't wait to book your session....I don't think these time slots are going to last much longer.

Ahem...Save the Date for Portraits in the Park

Okay...So I just picked a date, two actually.

Wednesday, March 26 - I know it's during the week, but I thought it might work well for stay-at-home mom's (or dad's) who want to bring their little ones.

Saturday, March 29 - For all the working parents.

The sessions will take place in Audubon Park. They are short 30 minute sessions. There will be no session fee, and I have special package options just for this mini session with prices starting at $50.

The way it'll work is on the day of the session, you'll pay for the smallest package, $50 + tax. Then, when you see your proofs, you can order any other package, and I'll apply your $50 to that package. Kind of like a print credit.

I'm sure these will book fast so make sure to schedule your session soon!

My little Red Head + Andrew

I got an email from Nicole about her book she is writing. It's called The Little Red Heads Across America. She was actually wanting me to photograph some other little red heads in my area, but I thought she had seen Hannah Jane, my little red head. Luckily she said that she could use another red head from Louisiana so now I've got to pick some of my favorite photos of Hannah. Please let me know what your favorites are!!

This was from her Birthday, but I just love it. I'm wondering if her face looks too pink?

Another old one. This one is in Black and White on my splash page.

These are all new from today....Please comment on your favorite!!

I like the light here, but her expression looks a little angry.

I know...not in color, but it just fits her!

I wish I could have pushed her hair behind her ear so I could see more of her face, but she only did this once.

We also played with the umbrella...
Love hs little crooked smile here!

Don't forget....Please let me a comment ASAP!!!

My kids playing...

Just wanted to share a little of our day with you. The weather was just about perfect today...not too hot and not too cold! It was a pretty overcast day for the most part which gave off a nice soft light all day long. After running all my errands and making a commissary run, I had to get the kids out for some fun shots. These are just a few of my favorites. Feel free to go to my FlickR site to see the rest of them. The light was so yummy!

Here's Hannah having some fun on the spider web...

My handsome little Andrew. He's such a big kid now!

More of my little monkey...

Just showing off his cast-free hand. Better use two hands before you end up in another one!!

It's all fun and games...

Just sharing a few photos from Texas. We went with Simon's parents to Fire Mountain, and the kids got to play putt putt golf and lots of other fun stuff.

Working on back lighting...

More back lighting...I'm starting to like it :)

Love this lighting...

Just thought it was sweet...

I'll share more later :)

I've almost got the details worked out for the spring mini sessions. I had planned to do an indoor, studio style setup, but I've decided to go with portraits in the park. I'm still deciding between two locations. The first one I'm considering is Audubon Park. I know there are plenty of opportunities there for some great shots! I'm also looking into the Longue Vue Gardens. The only thing with this place is that there would be a higher session fee that would cover the cost of doing a session on their grounds. I do think it'd be well worth it since it's a beautiful location, though. I just don't want to turn anyone off from my low cost mini sessions by charging more for this specific location. Do you have a preference? Shoot me an email if your interested, and I'll make sure to keep you informed.

Car Troubles...

So we're sitting here in a Mazda dealership in Alexandria because my car broke down on us yesterday as we were driving back to New Orleans. We had to be towed here and by the time the tow truck got us here, the parts department was closed. At least, they got the part ordered for this morning. We still ended up being out for the hotel room for the night since they couldn't give us a rental car to get us home. We never travel light...it was all 4 of us plus the dog and two guinea pigs and a full load in the back of the car! At least I had my computer with me :).

I'll post some photos of our time in East Texas soon enough. Just wanted to let you all know that we're still alive...maybe I should say "knock on wood" to that one! You know it was one of those days when I was scared to say what else could go wrong!

Growing up so fast...

It's truly amazing how fast kids grow up. I know it sounds like a cliche, but it is really the truth. Andrew is now six years old and is so grown up. He's really a good kid. He has a great sense of humor and has a beautiful singing voice (even if he doesn't like anyone to hear him). He loves the Jonas Brothers and watching Disney TV shows like "The Suite Life of Zach & Cody."

This morning I hosted a Pampered Chef cooking show for my friend Jen. Andrew wanted to dress up for the event since so many of our friends and neighbors were coming over. He choose this button-up, collared shirt. It matched perfectly with his cast, which comes off tomorrow. Until now, I've only got a few snapshots with him in his cast so today was the perfect opportunity to remember this time in his childhood.

In case you don't know ...he broke it falling off the monkey bars.

Harley couldn't stay out of the room!

Andrew really loves him, though :)

I love his laugh!

We were talking about his girlfriend ;-)
