My kids playing...

Just wanted to share a little of our day with you. The weather was just about perfect today...not too hot and not too cold! It was a pretty overcast day for the most part which gave off a nice soft light all day long. After running all my errands and making a commissary run, I had to get the kids out for some fun shots. These are just a few of my favorites. Feel free to go to my FlickR site to see the rest of them. The light was so yummy!

Here's Hannah having some fun on the spider web...

My handsome little Andrew. He's such a big kid now!

More of my little monkey...

Just showing off his cast-free hand. Better use two hands before you end up in another one!!

It's all fun and games...

Just sharing a few photos from Texas. We went with Simon's parents to Fire Mountain, and the kids got to play putt putt golf and lots of other fun stuff.

Working on back lighting...

More back lighting...I'm starting to like it :)

Love this lighting...

Just thought it was sweet...

I'll share more later :)

I've almost got the details worked out for the spring mini sessions. I had planned to do an indoor, studio style setup, but I've decided to go with portraits in the park. I'm still deciding between two locations. The first one I'm considering is Audubon Park. I know there are plenty of opportunities there for some great shots! I'm also looking into the Longue Vue Gardens. The only thing with this place is that there would be a higher session fee that would cover the cost of doing a session on their grounds. I do think it'd be well worth it since it's a beautiful location, though. I just don't want to turn anyone off from my low cost mini sessions by charging more for this specific location. Do you have a preference? Shoot me an email if your interested, and I'll make sure to keep you informed.

Car Troubles...

So we're sitting here in a Mazda dealership in Alexandria because my car broke down on us yesterday as we were driving back to New Orleans. We had to be towed here and by the time the tow truck got us here, the parts department was closed. At least, they got the part ordered for this morning. We still ended up being out for the hotel room for the night since they couldn't give us a rental car to get us home. We never travel light...it was all 4 of us plus the dog and two guinea pigs and a full load in the back of the car! At least I had my computer with me :).

I'll post some photos of our time in East Texas soon enough. Just wanted to let you all know that we're still alive...maybe I should say "knock on wood" to that one! You know it was one of those days when I was scared to say what else could go wrong!

Growing up so fast...

It's truly amazing how fast kids grow up. I know it sounds like a cliche, but it is really the truth. Andrew is now six years old and is so grown up. He's really a good kid. He has a great sense of humor and has a beautiful singing voice (even if he doesn't like anyone to hear him). He loves the Jonas Brothers and watching Disney TV shows like "The Suite Life of Zach & Cody."

This morning I hosted a Pampered Chef cooking show for my friend Jen. Andrew wanted to dress up for the event since so many of our friends and neighbors were coming over. He choose this button-up, collared shirt. It matched perfectly with his cast, which comes off tomorrow. Until now, I've only got a few snapshots with him in his cast so today was the perfect opportunity to remember this time in his childhood.

In case you don't know ...he broke it falling off the monkey bars.

Harley couldn't stay out of the room!

Andrew really loves him, though :)

I love his laugh!

We were talking about his girlfriend ;-)

More from Mardi Gras

Just wanted to share a few images from today. We went down to the parade route and watched two parades roll by. The kids had a blast and got a ton of beads!

Andrew and Hannah went down to the street vendor to buy a cool hat, but ended up with these noisy horns! At least they caught the attention of the people on the floats :)

The front of one of the floats...just thought it was pretty and Andrew loves eagles!

Hannah showing off her wand that they threw especially to her!

Thank you kisses for letting her go to the parade!

Mardi Gras Parade

The base had a little Mardi Gras parade today. It was nice because it wasn't crowded at all. The kids thought it was great! We've got so many beads now!!

Here's a few of my favorite images from the day....

Well...this wasn't actually taken at the parade. Andrew's at that point where he doesn't like to be in front of my camera :(. I've got to snap photos whenever he's not looking. Got ya!

All of the photos on today's post were taken with my new toy... 85mm f/1.8 ! Love it!

I'm still working the details out for the Easter & family mini sessions. Send me your email address if you want the latest info!

Andrew's Art Work

I had to share Andrew's art work with you all. I have to say I was a little shocked when I first saw the picture that he drew. Then, I asked him to tell me about it, and it all made sense.

Okay...so take a look at the original...
So do you see where my mind was :)? Well, when I asked him about it he told me he had drawn Hannah as an angel. So we came to photoshop and played with it a bit.

This is what we came up with....
Yep...the two big circle things that I was concerned with are actually wings :) What a relief!!

Anyways...Don't forget about the sale on wall portraits. You've got until Feb. 2oth.

Party Time

Just wanted to share a couple of fun photos from The Party Time Palace. This is such a cool place! My kiddos just love it. It's got a bouncy house and two different blowup slides...all the games you can imagine and even putt-putt golf!! Anyways...They are working on their website and asked if I could take a few photos for them to show off their place.

It was a nice surprise seeing our neighbors there, too!

This is PJ sliding....
He may look little, but he has no fear on the huge slide!!

You guys should definitely stop by and let the kids play! It's a great way to run all their energy out!

Keep posted for more info on my Easter Mini Sessions. I just got all the props for the set...it's going to be really cute!!

A broken arm :(

Just wanted to share...Andrew fell off the monkey bars at the playground today and broke his arm. We just got back from the ER, and they put a little splint on it. This is his first broken bone and hopefully his last, but he's a rough and tumble little boy so who knows.

Poor little guy...he was okay with me taking a photo of him, but he wouldn't crack a smile for it.

They gave him a sling for when he's up and walking around...

This is just a temporary splint and wrap...we'll have to see what the doctor does.
Don't those sad eyes just get you :(

Yep...that's our Christmas tree still up. That was the goal for this evening...Guess I'll have to work on that tomorrow :).

Oh & Deanna if you're reading this...I'll have your proofs in later this week. I'll know an exact date tomorrow, & I'll give you a call. Hope you guys had a great time on your honeymoon!!
